Hiking and going for long walks are some of our favorite outdoor activities. Switzerland, with its countless beautiful old towns and natural spectacles, is definitely a perfect place for wandering. Even if we’ve been living here for many years, there are still many places we haven’t yet discovered.
Last Friday we explored the region along the lake Walen (Walensee), which is not too far from Zürich (50 min drive) and we wondered how come we didn’t think of going to this beautiful area before. Hiking on a Friday morning while many people are at work made the experience even more enjoyable. We had a whole paradise just for ourselves.
The Walensee is such a beautiful clear blue lake! We promised ourselves we will return in the summer time for a swim and of course to stand up paddle as well. (we love SUP😁)
Despite the cold wind, it felt like a spring day as the sunshine kept us company the whole time.
Stopping to take pictures and admire the scenery it’s always a must. We love immortalizing our adventures, sharing them and hopefully inspire people to explore some of the places we have been to.
We also reached the Seeranbach waterfalls near Betlis of the Amden municipality, which is one of the tallest waterfalls in the country. Together with the Seerenbach canyon, it makes a breathtaking scenery.
Driving on Betliserstrasse was quite an adventure of itself. Rocky foothills, lakeside, a rocky tunnel and a road so narrow that each direction follows a certain driving timetable as only one way traffic can be accommodated.
Altogether, it was a great day to be alive which makes us think how we should always live our life to the fullest and be free to explore and enjoy the beauty of nature at any time.
Today it’s cold and snowy here in Zürich. A good day to enjoy a warm cup of tea and share these memories with you.
Until next time,
